Aaron Tinder is a Professor of Art at Grand View University. He teaches courses in drawing, painting and art education, and spends most of his time reminding students that the only way to make good art is to make lots of art.

Hell Bent / Hold Fast

These pieces are selected from a body of small works that have been created over the past year. The collage-based process and smaller format have grown out of a desire (and sometimes a need) to be able to work in multiple locations, and to make intuitive decisions about composing an image. It’s been an incredibly prolific year for me as an artist, and I’ve found both solace and direction in the creation of these works. They’re full of the contradiction between formal beauty and awkward juxtapositions, which seems just about perfect to me. – Aaron
