Fiscal Year 2016 Funding Opportunities Now Available
Guidelines and application materials have been posted online for the Iowa Arts Council’s fiscal year 2016 funding opportunities. Please see below for program descriptions and an overview of updates that have been made for fiscal year 2016.
Art Project Grant |
Art Project Grants create opportunities for the arts to flourish in Iowa by investing in projects that positively impact the vitality of the arts in the state, demonstrate public value, and support Iowa Arts Council funding priorities. The fiscal year 2016 deadlines are May 1, 2015 and November 1, 2015.

- Semi-annual application deadlines, May 1, 2015 and November 1, 2015
- One set of guidelines and application form for all applicants
- Changes to eligible budget expenses including equipment, travel and indirect costs
Artist Fellowship Program |
The Iowa Arts Council is committed to recognizing the impact that individual artists have on the vitality of the arts in Iowa. The Artist Fellowship provides support to individuals who demonstrate exceptional creativity in the arts and the capacity for continued contributions to the excellence and innovation of the arts in the state. The Artist Fellowship seeks to elevate the arts in Iowa by advancing the artistic careers of Iowa artists through funding and professional development. The fiscal year 2016 deadline is May 1, 2015.
Artist Fellowship Program Updates
- Guidelines, scoring rubric and application form have been refreshed to better reflect program priorities of excellence and innovation, public value and career readiness
Big Yellow School Bus Grant |
The Big Yellow School Bus Grant provides $500 to Iowa schools and pre-schools to underwrite the cost of transportation for field trips to attend an arts event or to underwrite the cost of artist fees to bring a professional artist or artist group (e.g. actor, musician, visual artist, writer) into the classroom or school to lead an in-depth arts learning experience or artistic performance. The fiscal year 2016 application will open May 1, 2015. Applications will be accepted on a rolling deadline until funds have been depleted.
Big Yellow School Bus Grant Updates
- Grant amount increased to $500
- Program now allows grant funds to be used to bring a professional artist into the classroom
- Application opens May 1 to include grant activity taking place July 1, 2015 - June 30, 2016
