Make an Insect Motel

Artists Pam Dennis & Ryk Weiss are conducting Insect Hotel workshops June 13th and July 11th.

June 13 Insect Hotel
9am-12 Flock 9 Studios near Ogden
Build a small insect hotel with all materials provided. Based on a willow frame, you will fill it with various natural materials such as sticks, stones and layered bark to create dark private spaces insects find attractive. Fee $40.

TOOLS TO BRING:  sharp anvil pruning shears, small hammer, wire cutter, needle nose pliers, gloves

Saturday, July 11 10:30 - 3pm Insect Hotel Workshop, Chichaqua Bottoms Greenbelt, Polk County
Build an Insect Hotel to help attract pollinators to your garden. We will gather willows for the hotel structure and create the basic frame from simple willow work techniques. The form will be filled with various natural materials such as sticks, stones and layered bark to create dark private spaces insects find attractive for nesting or just an overnight stay.  Pre-registration required; deadline is July 6. Fee: $35. Minimum age, 12.

TOOLS TO BRING:  sharp anvil pruning shears, small hammer, wire cutter, needle nose pliers, gloves, waterproof boots and insect repellant if its wet and buggy while collecting willows.
