One of my projects, Community Supported Art, is wrapping up this week. We still have shares available, and these are fantastic artists who are making really stellar pieces for us. They are:
John Bosley, screenprinter
Amanda Barr, ceramist
Lucas Moser, photographer
They’re from Des Moines and Ames and are so super talented.
Shares are on sale through Thursday night. If you’d like a share, snag yours here. They’ll be ready for you in September.
I’m happy to answer any questions you have. Thanks.

Who’s exhibiting and opportunities for artists
Start something new in Iowa with tonight’s free workshop. If you’ve already started and are stuck, come down and ask questions. If you don’t know where to start, come down and ask questions. I have a brain crammed FULL of junk about Des Moines, event logistics, and project planning. Use me.
The dish in Des Moines art: October 2013
Rachel Buse opened her new work, Jungle, at Grandview University last Friday. It is a must-see show. Rachel pulled off a complex installation, made it interactive, intriguing, and unlike anything I’ve ever seen.
Since Rachel runs Art Beacon, and since we are friends, I won’t write a review. But I want to say that Buse built a colorful surprise that will move you. View Jungle at Grandview through November 15.
Community Supported Art is accepting artist applications through November 1. Selected artists will create 50 editions or individual artworks to be distributed to CSA shareholders in summer 2014. They get $1000 and promotional support for their effort. Give the application a shot.
EVAC is back? EJ Wickes has a new show, in conjunction with Thee Eye and a handful of other artists. Lost City opens November 8 in a south Des Moines warehouse.
