The dish in Des Moines art: October 2013

Rachel Buse opened her new work, Jungle, at Grandview University last Friday. It is a must-see show. Rachel pulled off a complex installation, made it interactive, intriguing, and unlike anything I’ve ever seen.

Since Rachel runs Art Beacon, and since we are friends, I won’t write a review. But I want to say that Buse built a colorful surprise that will move you. View Jungle at Grandview through November 15

Community Supported Art is accepting artist applications through November 1. Selected artists will create 50 editions or individual artworks to be distributed to CSA shareholders in summer 2014. They get $1000 and promotional support for their effort. Give the application a shot.

EVAC is back? EJ Wickes has a new show, in conjunction with Thee Eye and a handful of other artists. Lost City opens November 8 in a south Des Moines warehouse.
