By placing the work of women center stage in the capitol building, the Iowa Women’s Art Exhibition emphasizes the powerful role art plays in the political process and protest. The program includes two semi-annual exhibits each year in the Governor’s office at the Iowa Capitol and selected artists receive an award. Currently, Lee Emma Running’s installation of prairie plants roots invites the natural environment into the conversations happening in the Office of the Governor of Iowa.
