Queer Abstraction Grand Opening

Kick off pride month and join the Des Moines Art Center in celebrating the opening of their new exhibit: Queer Abstraction. This show is the first in the Art Center’s 70-year history to focus exclusively on LGBTQ art and artists, including Math Bass, Mark Bradford, Edie Fake, Felix Gonzalez-Torres, Harmony Hammond, Nicholas Hlobo, John Paul Morabito, Carrie Moyer, Sheila Pepe, Prem Sahib, Jonathan VanDyke, and Jade Yumang. Abstract art has long provided a venue to illustrate a diversity of gender and sexual orientations, and this show will celebrate that legacy in several mediums.

The opening party will feature a complimentary coffee cart and other treats, a pop-up installation by a local artist, and music and dancing. Join in at the Des Moines Art Center this Saturday at 7 PM.
