An exhibit of new work by Larassa Kabel, also featuring works, curated by Kabel, of the following artists: Heidi Bagg, Samantha Barbour, Heidi Wiren Bartlett, Jennifer Buchkowski, Dasha Medvedeva, Jessica Pleyel, Virginia Taxler, and Taylor Yocom. Moberg Gallery is excited to be exhibiting the work of these artists together in UpSpeak.

UpSpeak deals with the complex experience of being a woman in the world. Using photography, performance, drawing, video, object and functional art, interactive storytelling, and more, these nine artists tackle subjects that are difficult to speak of. Confronting the effects of what Kabel calls the “communication gap between the sexes,” the exhibit exposes patriarchal and misogynist systems ingrained in society, going as far back as Greek mythology.

This powerful exhibition offers both the risen inflection that occurs when asking tough questions, and the raised voices that make bold and necessary statements of recognition—speaking up surrounding the violence toward and oppression of women. Opening reception: Friday, August 26. Runs through Saturday, October 9, 2016.
