Taking its title and theme from the Declaration of Independence, the exhibit features two dozen works, in a variety of media — from painting and prints, to sculpture and video — depict some common components of happiness, from material comfort to social interaction. They also acknowledge the complex relationship, foreseen by the authors of the Declaration, between happiness and safety.

Pursuit of Happiness is a mixed-media group show featuring works by Rachel Buse, Des Moines; Tom Jackson, Cedar Rapids; Joe Lacina, Iowa City; Rob Stephens, Des Moines; Tiny Circus, Grinnell, and Bart Vargas, Omaha.
